Beverly's Update, November 2024

Get ready to change your clocks:  Daylight saving time ends, and on the first Sunday in November our clocks will fall back at 2 a.m., November 3.

November - a time to be thankful while enjoying the beauty of the season.  The time when the cold, winter weather has not yet arrived, the crops have been harvested, more have been planted: carrots, beets, turnips, spinach, kale, swiss chard, garlic, tatsoi, arugula (hoping I haven't missed too much).  The thought of a warm fire glowing in the fireplace will soon become a reality.

The leaves are finally showing some color, hopefully before they all drop to the ground.  It is hard to believe that another growing season is coming to a slow crawl.  Life on the farm continues as we clean, look at catalogues and stay excited as we plan for the 2025 season.

Thank you Northern Virginia Magazine.  We were awarded Number 1  in the November Best Restaurants.  It was an amazing article and we are so honored.  Congratulations to all of our chefs with Colby at the lead.  Congratulations to our serving staff who are very dedicated and talented. Congratulations  to the other Top 10 restaurants for all the work they do to create dining for your enjoyment.  Congratulations to all the well-deserving restaurants.  We are honored to be among so many great people and incredible creativity.

Thank you to the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce.  We are a finalist for the Loudoun Destination Business of the Year.  I continue to be amazed at all the wonderful small businesses in Loudoun.  There are so many caring, creative and dedicated people.  Congratulations to all the finalists. The Small Business Awards will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024 at The National Conference Center, Leesburg, VA

As we celebrate the Thanksgiving season, remember to give thanks for all the blessings that surround you.  Give thanks for all the little things we sometimes take for granted.  I am always grateful for my beautiful family, that I have been able to live a dream, share my life with all of you and meet you throughout the year at the restaurant.

We hope to continue dining on the patio, under the tent as long as possible.  We have some heaters - not enough for every table - and some wraps and blankets.  We recommend BYOSB - bring your own snuggly blanket!  As always, if too cold or the weather doesn't cooperate, we do have the glass conservatory available for you.

We have added two enclosed bubble tents that are available for dining.  They will seat 2 - 4 comfortably.  You may reserve them ($100.00).  Let us know if you would enjoy sitting outside in a cozy, cute, romantic bubble tents.

Whether sitting in our glass conservatory, gazebo or open-air tent, the view overlooking the Potomac River never disappoints.  A tranquil setting, inspired by nature, the venue presents a breathtaking natural setting.  Join us for a celebration as each course presents inspiration for the seasons and harmony with the earth.  The chefs draw from what the region has to offer, crafting a tasting menu on what our farm and local farmers, fishermen and foragers provide.  We strive to excel at turning ordinary evenings into extraordinary ones.  The elemental base of fresh ingredients serves as inspiration for the chef's cuisine that we hope will excite your palate and nourish your soul.®

Somewhere around the 70's a group of foreigners living in Japan switched out turkey - due to lack of availabililty - to chicken and this caught on like wildfire.  Of course, KFC jumped at the chance and launched "Kentucky for Christmas" and the same simple message of "on Christmas, you eat chicken" is still a cultural phenomenon.  In Japan, KFC is know as Kentakkii.  They even had Colonel Sanders dressed up as Santa and in Japan "Christmas is all about Kentucky Fried Chicken."  Tamotsu Nagata.  And, people ate angel food cake, whipped cream and berries!!
