The Patowmack Farm Story
Beverly Morton Billand and Chuck Billand started Patowmack Farm in 1986, growing fresh herbs and specialty vegetables. Pronounced PAT-O-MACK, the farm is named after George Washington's trading company and the American Indians located in the area. Patowmack Farm sits high on a hill overlooking the Potomac River, one of the most spectacular views in all of the Loudoun Valleys. From the beginning, we have continued to farm the land using sustainable farming methods without chemical fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides. Early on, value-added products were added to spread beyond the seasonal market. Production increased by adding perennial crops such as asparagus, rhubarb, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. |
