2013 Cooking Class Schedule

All cooking classes are on Saturday beginning at 11:00 am

Classes typically last 3 hours

Minimum 6 people, unless otherwise noted

June 8 – Spring Fling – $55.00

Not long before the first day of Summer, take a walk around the farm to harvest the ingredients needed for a fresh spring luncheon.  Fava beans and peas, greens, leaves, herbs and lettuces.  We will use these seasonal foods in the creation of tasty and light recipes.

June 27 – Kickoff to the “Introducing Children to the Kitchen – Getting the family to the Table” – A cooking class series for young people 9 – 14

Saturday, July 13 and August 17 – $180.00 per attendant – parents free.

Starting in the fields, see the connection between the people who grow the food, those who prepare it and those who sit at the table and share the meal.  The classes will teach the fundamentals such as how to make rice, how to roast a chicken, make scrambled eggs and how to incorporate what came from the garden into a meal.  This is a hands-on class. Parents are required to attend enjoying the patio and light snacks while the “cooks” surprise you with their creations.

July 20 – A Taste of Spain – $85.00

A traditional Spanish feast, preparing gazpacho, sangria and tapas all while we tend to and wait for the paella to finish cooking over an open fire.

September 21 – Sensational Salads – $45.00

Lettuces, leaves, greens and herbs are in full swing this time of the year.  Explore the various tastes and textures of these wonderful ingredients.  Get creative and learn how to prepare unique salad dressings and toppers that will make your salad a showstopper!

October 5 – Game Day Gourmet – $65.00

This “ain’t” your everyday nacho cheese dip, buffalo wings and watered down beer gameday party.  Your home is the place to be on any given Sunday with recipes that will make your football loving friends proclaim you the true, gameday gourmet.

November 16 – Turkey Tutorial – $65.00

With Thanksgiving fast approaching, learn some tricks of the trade to make your turkey day an exceptional one.  In addition to a turkey tutorial, we will also demonstrate, discuss and devour a number of side dishes that will have your guests making reservations at your place for next year.

December 7 – Cookie Decorating Class – $30.00 (1/2 of the proceeds are donated to a local charity)

Such fun – had by all.  Adults and young ones.  Make this a family affair!  Come learn and decorate cookies to take home and enjoy.  An annual event – it was a smash last year.

December 15 – Annual Cookie Exchange – no fee – donation of canned good for a local charity is requested.

Bring three dozen cookies and go home with a wonderful variety to share with your family or give away as gifts.  No reservations needed  - just call or e-mail to let us know of your attendance.  We will have gluten free cookies and lots of apple cider and hot chocolate.
